The Carnes Crossroads Community Fund awards grants and donations to local nonprofit organizations each year based on the needs of the greater local community and in support of the philanthropic activities undertaken by Carnes Crossroads residents and businesses. To date, a wide assortment of initiatives have received support, including:
Callen-Lacey Center for Children
This is a residential shelter for Berkeley County children. Since opening in Moncks Corner in 1998, it has been home to over 1,000 children from newborns to 17 years of age. The center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
College Park Middle School
Carnes Crossroads residents have participated in “Angel Tree” events for students in need at nearby College Park Middle School at the holidays to ensure that all children and their families experience holiday joy. The Carnes Crossroads Community Fund has supported this effort by contributing additional cash to help the school better serve these students and families.
Helping Hands of Goose Creek
An emergency assistance center and food pantry serving individuals and families who are experiencing a life crisis situation. Their mission is to help these families achieve self-sufficiency, regardless of the life crisis event.
Junior Achievements strives to help students realize the importance of the education they are receiving today and how it will help them attain a brighter future. Volunteers work with kids to help them understand all of the options available to them.
Lowcountry Food Bank
The Lowcountry Food Bank was established to help fight hunger throughout the greater Charleston region.
Magdalene House of Charleston
This nonprofit recovery home helps women dealing with addiction by providing them with the opportunity to recover in a safe environment where they receive encouragement and support along their journey. The Magdalene house has two locations in the greater Charleston area.
The Carnes Crossroads Community Fund has contributed to various fundraisers and initiatives in support of our community’s school, including a fundraiser for Water Missions International.
St. Judes Children’s Hospital
St. Judes aims to fight childhood cancer by serving patients and their families, and supporting research initiatives. Their annual “Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer” is the organization’s largest annual fundraising event. The Charleston event has been held at Carnes Crossroads for multiple consecutive years.
This international outreach ministry for middle and high school students was created in the U.S. in the 1930s. Its mission is to assist younger generations in growing their faith. It now has branches located all over the world.
